About
Matt Broey Cotter is a drummer and educator based in Folkestone, Kent.
Highlights include supporting The Cure in Mexico, recording at BBC Maida Vale studios, gaining airplay on BBC Radio 1, having tracks featured on TV, and performing at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park and Bestival.
He studied at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute between 2012 and 2015, and went on to become a drum tutor at the Sussex Academy of Music until relocating to Kent where he taught at Right Track Music.
Matt has toured across the UK and Europe and performed with Violet Vendetta at Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City supporting The Cure. He is a former touring member of CoCo and the Butterfields as well as several other bands including SKIES and Wayward Daughter.
He can currently be seen performing live with The King Rooks, who have recently had their tracks featured on BBC Radio. Their album is due to be released in the summer of 2025. Matt is also performing live with Joe Bulley.
Matt is available for recording sessions and has recently recorded drums for a project with legendary producer Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C, Foals).
In addition to performing and recording, Matt teaches privately at his teaching space in Cheriton where he provides both face to face and online lessons. He teaches at schools across Kent and runs hands-on small group workshops for various ages and abilities. He has also lead drum workshops for Folkestone First Timers. Matt is a former tutor at one of Kent’s leading drum schools, DrumWise, where he taught for nearly 5 years before focussing on his own private teaching practice. He continues to study with his tutor.
